At the state level, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was unable to declare a nationwide Day of Mourning due to a lack of quorum.
In solidarity with Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Government of Montenegro held an emergency phone session and decided to declare Thursday, November 6, as a Day of Mourning.
“On the Day of Mourning, in accordance with the Law on State Symbols and Statehood Day, flags will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings and those of local self-government and public institutions. On this day, no public, cultural or entertainment programs will be held, and music will not be played in hospitality venues. Electronic and other media are required to adjust their programming to reflect the observance of the Day of Mourning,” the Montenegrin government said in a statement.
The statement added that Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and other cabinet members expressed their deepest condolences to the families of the victims. Condolences were also expressed by Tuzla Mayor Zijad Lugavic and residents, as well as to the Chairwoman of Bosnia's Council of Ministers, Borjana Kristo.
The fire broke out at the Tuzla retirement home shortly before 9 pm on Tuesday. According to the latest information, more than 30 people were injured. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway.
